What is rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty commonly referred as “nose job” is the most popular cosmetic surgery. Rhinoplasty surgery enhances facial harmony by getting rid of structural defects of the nose. This surgery shapes your nose and improves its appearance. Moreover, it can also fix your breathing problems by fixing a deviated septum or a broken nose.
Before this procedure, it is very important that patients have realistic expectations and clear understanding of the limitations and scope of the surgery as well as the risks of it.
Rhinoplasty surgery is tailored uniquely to each patient’s needs. It is very important to consult an experienced surgeon prior to the surgery. At Nuannce Health, we offer a free consultation to discuss the patient’s desired appearance of the nose to achieve the best rhinoplasty results possible.
What can rhinoplasty do?
Rhinoplasty can:

- Correct deviated septum
- Repair damage due to trauma
How is rhinoplasty performed?
Rhinoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. The surgery usually takes 1-2 hours. It can be performed as endonasal (closed rhinoplasty) or external (open rhinoplasty) depending on patient’s anatomy and desired outcome.
When performing an open method rhinoplasty, the surgeon makes an incision is through the columella which allows access to the structure of the nose. With this method, the surgeon can correct asymmetries and abnormalities that are not clear from the outside examination.
Your doctor might prefer closed method after your examination. With this method, the incisions are hidden inside the nose. The advantage of this method is that there will be no external scarring.
During your consultation, the surgeon will evaluate your condition and decide which technique is better for you to achieve your desired appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions
In most cases, seven-day stay is enough in Turkey for a nose job recovery.
In most cases a patient can go back to work on the 10th day.
Yes. A nose job changes the aesthetic appearance of the nose while septoplasty changes functionality of it. Combined procedure is called “functional rhinoplasty” in which the deviated septum is repaired making it easier to breathe through the nose while improving its appearance at the same time.
Patients may feel discomfort or the first few days after the surgery, including headaches. Bruising and swelling may also be experienced after the surgery. These effects mostly subside within two weeks after the surgery. It takes about 6 weeks for the nasal bones to heal completely after the procedure. Therefore, it is important to avoid putting pressure on your nose and engage in any activity that may risk trauma to your nose.
When performing rhinoplasty, it should be waited until the nose is fully developed. Which happens around 16-17 for girls and 18 for boys.
Patients who are disappointed with their results should wait until the swelling and bruising is completely subsided. This usually takes around one year. There are, of course, exceptions and the best thing to do is to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in this field.
Closed rhinoplasty doesn’t leave a scar. In contrast, open rhinoplasty leaves a tiny scar located in between the columella and the upper lip, which fades over time.
