Fat injection to breasts, also known as “autologous fat transfer” or “fat grafting”, is a procedure in which fat is taken from one area of the body, typically the abdomen, hips, or thighs, using liposuction and then re-injected into the breasts to increase their size or to restore volume that has been lost due to weight loss or aging. This process helps restore volume and provide a natural, yet long lasting, result.
What can Fat Injection do?
The procedure can be used for the following purposes:
- Breast Augmentation: Fat can be injected into the breasts to increase their size or to restore volume that has been lost due to weight loss or aging.
- Breast Reconstruction: Fat can be used to reconstruct the breast after a mastectomy.
- Breast Asymmetry Correction: Fat can be used to even out the size or shape of asymmetrical breasts.
- Correction Of Congenital Defects: Fat can be used to correct congenital breast defects such as tubular breasts, Poland’s syndrome, or breast hypoplasia.
- Improving The Shape: Fat can be used to improve the shape of the breasts, for example filling out the upper pole, or providing a more natural look.
How is Fat Injection surgery performed?
The procedure is typically done under general aesthesia and begins with liposuction to remove the fat from the donor site. The fat is then processed and purified, and then it is re-injected into the breasts using small cannulas. The fat is injected in multiple layers to ensure that it is evenly distributed. The procedure usually takes between 2 to 4 hours to complete. Approximately, 30-50% of the grafted fat survives and produces natural and long-lasting outcomes.
In addition, it’s important to be aware that the final results of the surgery may take several weeks or months to be visible, and multiple sessions may be needed for optimal results. Some of the fat may be reabsorbed by the body, and touch-up sessions may be needed to achieve the desired results. It is also important to keep in mind that the outcome of this procedure is not as predictable as traditional breast augmentation surgery, and it may not be suitable for everyone.
What is the recovery like after a Fat Injection surgery?
After the Fat Injection surgery, patients should expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the areas of treatment.
How is the aftercare of a Fat Injection surgery?
- Pain Management: You may experience some pain and discomfort following the surgery, which can be managed with medication prescribed by your surgeon.
- Compression Garment: You’ll be required to wear a compression garment or bandage for at least a month following the surgery to help reduce swelling and to aid in the healing process.
- Rest and Activity: It’s important to avoid any strenuous activity or heavy lifting for at least 4-6 weeks following the surgery, as this can put extra stress on the healing area.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Fat Injection Surgery
You need to stay in Turkey for seven days for a fat injection surgery. You will have a follow-up visit with an experienced surgeon from our team 5 days after the surgery.
Generally, it is advised to wait one week before returning to work after a Fat Injection surgery.
Fat Injection surgery usually has long-lasting results, however, in some cases, a touch-up procedure may be needed if patient decides they want to increase the volume of fat injections. This is because of the body’s natural tendency to absorb some of the transferred fat over time. Additionally, the effects of aging, gravity, and lifestyle can influence the results of the surgery. For this reason, many doctors recommend touch-ups every few years to maintain optimal results.
It depends on the individual’s goals and needs. For example, breast augmentation may be best for those looking to increase their breast size while fat injection can be more suitable for those looking to improve breast shape and contour.
